Event Details

NEW LOCATION:
Same OCAD Building on 100 McCaul, but in Lambert Lounge Room 187, first floor.

START TIME 7pm:
This month's session will begin at 7pm. There is a lecture next door in the OCAD auditorium from 5:45 so people can catch most of that first if they are interested.

----------

Join Design with Dialogue from 6-9pm on the second Wednesday of every month at OCAD's sLab.  We are an open community of practice who learn together how to lead conversations through participatory design, strategic dialogues and emerging facilitation methods.

Our next session on Nov. 10, hosted by Erika Bailey, will explore Positive Deviance (PD). PD is a front-line/ bottom-up change methodology for solving intractable, complex, important and measurable problems in communities of all kinds. It has been used all over the world for some of the worst and most difficult to handle problems, sometimes affecting millions of people.

PD assumes that in every community dealing with such a problem, there are always a group of people who are able to deviate positively from the norm, and overcome the problems themselves (given the same resources). The method seeks out these positive deviants, new innovations, and barriers to success through conversational processes. The DwD session will introduce the principles and the practices of PD, and will invite all attendees to try out the PD tools and consider applications in their own communities.

Erika Bailey is a facilitator and Human Systems Consultant with a decade of facilitation and teaching experience. Her extensive expertise and practical skill in leadership, individual and organizational change, and organizational development has made her an in-demand facilitator in engagement projects across the GTA. Erika is a coach in the Canadian Positive Deviance Project and is a faculty member of the Safer Healthcare Now! New Approach to Controlling Superbugs Initiatives (a current PD project).

Please join us for another lively, engaging and educational session and forward this invitation along to anyone you know who might be interested in attending.
